Equity VS. Equality : Or workers need both in CA?

I was roaming in Menifee when I bumped into this amazing guy, He is working in one of the establishments closed by our area. Besides from the thoughtful smile. I was impressed with this young man’s energetic persona and his ability to strike conversations with strangers. He was gracious to stop and comfortably, He gave me a little bit information about himself. Just like the other residents, he loves the community and aims to stay in Menifee.

Prior pandemic, most of the businesses tried all the cost efficient strategies to survive, some have boasted about giving 10%-15% increased in their employees hourly wage, however behind the curtains, they are also in the work on reducing the numbers of their employees by at least 30% as the owners have forecasted the unpredictable traffic and economic instability for the next two or upcoming years. These are just one of the tactics of the smart entrepreneurs and giant companies to give themselves the security to recover from the forecasted 20% decline in sales and revenue. While this employer’s tactic became a nightmare to the workers who lost their jobs, our government officials have neglected the need to pass a bill on “Workers Equal Take Home Bill” which until now is known to be “non-existence” - in the past and current legislation, locally and federally.

If “equitable” pay does not exist, we may realize that working Americans are getting too fast ahead to fight for “equality”, We keep on picking up the fights for basket of rotten fruits produced by a blossoming seed of problems. We keep harvesting the same amount of expectations from the planted trees filled with ideal-sound promises for our workers.

While both republicans and democrats are being applauded for their continuous advocate for ‘equal rights’, “fair compensation” and the most promising narrative of the need for “living wages”, most failed to focus on the small piece of the puzzle, - Equitable Pay for workers - who are doing the same amount of work, rendering the same working hours and wearing the same uniforms.
